Magnetic Therapy Information

The process of implementing magnetic therapy to promote health and well being dates back over 2,000 years when it occupied a major role within Chinese medical practices.  Other ancient cultures such as those of Greece, India and Egypt were also wise to healing prowess of magnetic therapy and today the approach is being rediscovered worldwide among progressive health care providers, professional athletes, veterinarians and the general public.

It is estimated that 140 million people around the world currently incorporate magnetic therapy into their daily lives.  Some individuals choose to use magnetic products to relieve immediate pain and discomfort and discontinue usage until needed again.  Others find it more beneficial to continue using the devices on an ongoing basis to promote overall health and wellness......the choice is really yours!   Rest assured that magnets are one of the safest, non-intrusive forms of alternative therapy available today.

Understanding Magnet Types:

Basically, there are four types of magnets used in magnetic therapy products.  Gauss readings, the unit in which magnet strength is measured, will vary based on the size, weight and shape of the magnet and are measured by a Gauss meter by the manufacturer of magnetic therapy products.  The following is a brief explanation of the types of magnets used in product lines we offer at magnetictherapycentral.com

Samarium Cobalt:  Composed from a combination of samarium and cobalt and often used in small quantities in magnetic jewelry items.

Neodymium:  Composed from a combination of neodymium, iron and boron.  This magnet is used in magnetic jewelry and small therapy devices.

Ceramic #5 & #6:   Arrived at by combining iron powder and ceramic clay.   This formulation is used in most magnetic therapy products.

Flexible Magnetic Rubber:  Made by mixing rubber and iron powder to use most often in the manufacture of magnetic insoles and flexible pads.

A Word of Caution!

Persons fitted with pacemakers, defibrillators, implanted insulin pumps or other electro-medical devices should keep magnetic products at least 18" (45cm) away from the device.  Keep away from audio/video tapes, credit cards and computer discs.  Pregnant women should consult their health care provider before using magnetic therapy products.  The World Health Organization agrees that the gauss strength and types of magnets used in magnetic therapy products offers no health hazards.  If unsure, please consult your health care provider before use.
